Making Waves Together saw Great Yarmouth Borough Council and East Suffolk Council work together with local creative partners to provide more cultural opportunities in Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft. This was all made possible through the Great Places scheme, funded through National Lottery Heritage Fund, Arts Council England and supported by Historic England

Marina Theatre – Lowestoft, FlipSide, DanceEast, originalprojects;, Reprezent Project, SeaChange Arts, Enjoy Great Yarmouth, Lowestoft Rising, Time and Tide Museum of Great Yarmouth Life, Norfolk Museums Service, Association for Suffolk Museums, Great Yarmouth Preservation Trust, Lowestoft Vision (Discover Lowestoft), Great Yarmouth Town Centre.
The film was created by young creative Joshua Freemantle – Creative, who is only 17 years old and a Lowestoft local.
Making Waves Together was one of 16 projects funded by the Arts Council and National Lottery Heritage fund through the Great Place Scheme.
It was a 3 year programme, lead by Waveney District Council and Great Yarmouth Borough Council, which aimed to put arts, culture and heritage at the heart of the local vision, making a step change in the contribution of culture in Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth, and embedding them in the places’ plans for the future. The Making Waves Together project reinforced the work in Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth around place making and raising pride, community confidence and aspirations.
Making Waves Together consisted of 9 delivery partners, with 16 different areas of work. One of these areas was to support the development of cultural capacity in Great Yarmouth and enhanced opportunities for children and young people through the work of Enjoy-Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft Rising and to this end a cultural learning officer was employed.
